Home Minister Orders Suspension of Seven Officials After Darshan’s Jail Photo Surfaces
A photograph of Sandalwood actor Darshan leisurely enjoying coffee and a cigarette at Parappana Agarahara prison has gone viral, prompting a reaction from Home Minister G. Parameshwara. The minister announced that he has instructed the suspension of seven jail officials in connection with the incident.
Darshan is currently in Bengaluru Central Prison related to the murder of Renuka Swamy. A video of him allegedly making a video call from inside the jail has also circulated online.
In response, Parameshwara stated, “We have suspended seven officials in this case. I have requested a report. Such incidents should not occur. Those responsible have been suspended, and further action will be taken. I will transfer senior officials involved. This shouldn’t happen. We are installing CCTVs in all prisons, and jammers are being implemented. Despite these measures, such incidents are still happening,” he expressed his disappointment.
The minister also addressed the issue of food provided to inmates, clarifying, “Darshan was not given chicken biryani. Everything is proceeding according to jail rules. We do not condone the incident that just occurred.”
Additionally, a high-frequency jammer was installed in the jail, which caused disturbances in nearby areas. As a result, the frequency has been reduced for the time being. “It is crucial to determine who took the photo. We need to know whose mobile device was used,” Parameshwara added.
